INBK is excited to announce our endorsement of Cynthia Nixon for Governor. Nixon is the most progressive candidate ever to run for Governor in New York state. Period. To us, that label means something- — Nixon is the first major gubernatorial candidate to vocally reject funding from both the fossil fuel and real estate lobbies as well as corporate PACs. Her candidacy is historic, not only because she would be both the first woman and first LGBTQ governor of New York, but also because she is running an unabashedly progressive campaign with 97% of donations coming from small donors, rather than corporations. More HERE.

We are proud to endorse Zellnor Myrie in SD20.

After hearing Zellnor speak at multiple meetings and reading his answers to our questionnaire, we trust that he will represent District 20 with integrity and always put his constituents first. As he put it, “Albany can play musical chairs, but people in my district need affordable housing, quality schools and bail reform now, and don’t have time for games.”

INBK is excited to endorse Jasmine Robinson for State Senate in SD23!

Jasi is community leader and activist who is running for “all of us.” That’s why she has rejected the corporate donors that have funded her opponent, incumbent Diane Savino, including REBNY, charter schools and LLCs. She is committed for fighting for public schools, criminal justice reform and to protect immigrant New Yorkers. Above all she is committed to listening to and learning from the needs of her constituents and we know she will stick to that promise.

INBK proudly endorses Jumaane Williams for Lt. Governor! Jumaane is a fierce advocate and community activist with a long record of accomplishments as a New York City Council member. He is committed to fighting for accountable policing, affordable housing, fixing the subway, fully funding public schools, a corporate polluter fee, universal healthcare, and the Reproductive Health Act. Time and time again, he has put his body, his career, and his word on the line to fight for our state’s most vulnerable. We trust that he will truly be the “people’s Lieutenant Governor” and make advocating for the people of New York his top priority.

We are proud to announces our endorsement of Ross Barkan in SD22. We believe he represents a fearless brand of progressive politics in a district that has for too long been overlooked by the Democratic Party. Ross has a proven history of speaking truth to power as a journalist and as a columnist before he decided to run for office. Furthermore, his intimate knowledge of the most important policy issues of the day is unparalleled. Once he captures the Democratic nomination, we have no doubt that he will work as a tireless campaigner in the general election and will defeat Republican Sen. Marty Golden come November.

INBK is excited to endorse Zephyr Teachout for Attorney General of New York!

When it comes down to it, Zephyr Teachout is the only one who is funded entirely by the grassroots, not corporate interests like the real estate lobby or fossil fuel companies. We need an Attorney General with the guts and ability to take on corruption in Albany and in D.C., and Zephyr puts her money where her mouth is. We’re inspired by Teachout’s candidacy and willingness to take on corruption, and we’re excited to get to work to support her in the primary.

We are proud to endorse Liuba Grechen Shirley in CD2.

Liuba is a fierce advocate for women and families who is running not as a connected establishment candidate, but because she genuinely cares about her community.  We know that WHEN she is elected, she will fight for families, for universal healthcare, campaign finance reform, the DREAM Act, fair environmental policies, and more.

We are excited to announce our endorsement of Democrat Max Rose for New York’s eleventh congressional district. Max is a combat veteran with experience in both healthcare and government. When he addressed our membership, we appreciated his focus on campaign finance reform, voting reforms and support for our unions as well as his experience in tackling substance & opioid abuse. Above all, we believe that Max has the energy, drive and commitment to see this race through, whether that means successfully defeating GOP primary challenger Michael Grimm or incumbent Representative Dan Donovan.
